About Latpanchar National Park

If you seek a truly unique and offbeat opportunity for birdwatching, then Latpanchar is where you should be headed off to. This hidden gem in the Himalayas is situated close to Darjeeling and is home to more than 200 species of birds. 

Part of the beautiful Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, Latpanchar remains untouched by human civilisation. Here, you can reconnect with nature at its finest and best as you escape the mundane life and reach out to the wild. Some of the species of birds that you can spot here include robins, kingfishers, woodpeckers, eagles, Himalayan pheasants, magpies, bulbuls, and many more. You may even get lucky and spot a reclusive leopard lurking around or a few deer grazing in the open grounds.

Arrival at Bagdogra – Check in to Hotel – First Birding Session
Guests arrive at Bagdogra in the morning and are provided transportation to the hotel in Latpanchar. We reach the hotel, check in and enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, we go for the first birding session of the trip, post which we return for some evening tea and snacks. We will also have a fun and enlightening discussion about the day’s sightings. The day ends with a yummy dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Birding Sessions
Day 2 is full of fun and action as we head out on even more birding sessions. Guests can enjoy clicking pictures of the wonderful species in the sanctuary. We will be accompanied by expert guides who will help in spotting birds as they blend in beautifully with the surroundings. We return to the hotel for lunch after which we head out once again for another birdwatching session. We return for tea and an engaging discussion about the day’s sightings. The day closes with dinner and we rest for the night.  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

More Sessions of Birding
Guests can continue enjoying the wonderful experience of spotting varied species of birds in even more sections of the sanctuary. Each birding session will have breaks during which meals and snacks will be served. We return at the end of the day for a discussion about the sightings, a delicious dinner, and a well-earned rest for the night.  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Early Morning Birding – Check out – Return Journey
Day 4 sees us head off on one last birding session at Latpanchar. We return to the hotel for breakfast, check out, and travel to Bagdogra. Guests may also have the opportunity to visit Rongtong. From Bagdogra, guests proceed to return home.  Meals: Breakfast Tour ends with wonderful memories.
