About Matheran Trail
Located at an altitude of about 2,635 feet above sea level, the quaint hill station of Matheran is the perfect getaway from Mumbai. Though it is well known for trekking activities and scenic landscapes, it is also a paradise for nature lovers as it lies in the Western Ghats- a biodiversity hotspot. The verdant forest of Matheran is evergreen and teeming with a variety of birds, around 140 species of butterflies, spiders, and frogs.
On this trail, you will get a chance to explore a plethora of diverse flora and fauna. You can spot birds like Malabar whistling thrush, orange-headed thrush, sunbirds, bulbuls, and flower-peckers. Moreover, you will also find flowers like wild turmeric and doll orchids. Matheran is also home to numerous frog species like common tree frog and bush frog. And many colourful butterflies, such as blue tiger and orange- tailed owlet are found here.

Important
Wear proper shoes with good grip. No sandals or flipflops will be allowed.
Carry at least 2 litres of drinking water.
A cap/hat or other sun protection is advisable.
