Flora of Jhalana Leopard Reserve

Jhalana offers some truly tranquil sceneries in the midst of an urban city. The diversity of nature found here is unique from within and without. Narrow valleys, sharp cliffs and a dry deciduous forest. The trees shed during the dry season and come alive with plush emerald colours during monsoon. The forest is mostly dominated by juliflora. This rapidly growing plant was initially planted for ease of access to firewood for villagers. However, the soil does not support the growth of other grasslands. The slanting valleys have more local flora variety such as dhak, salar, dhonk and more.

The local flora breeds a number of smaller animals that can be spotted during visits to the park, however, the main attraction at this woodland is definitely the majestic leopard. This prime and highly coveted mammal is the apple of all eyes at Jhalana, sitting at the top of the food chain, leopards at Jhalana are unique in their own way.
