The ‘In Search of Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher’ is another wildlife photography special trip that birdwatchers and photographers love to undertake. There are around 12 different species of Kingfishers in the Indian subcontinent, out of which the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher is the smallest. It is just 14 cm in size. Many wildlife lovers also call it the ‘Jewel of the Forest’. You will find the bird showcasing myriad feather colours like magenta, pink, and red, as well as neon blue. You will mostly find the bird in the southern part of the Western Ghats, Sri Lanka and northeast region. Moreover, it visits the northern range of the western ghats, to breed.
